Deona Mims is a LMSW with a deep passion for supporting women and children of all ages. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Lander University in May 2021 and went on to complete her Master of Social Work at Valdosta State University in May 2023.
Deona brings a compassionate and empowering approach to therapy, drawing from evidence-based practices including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also a certified substance abuse counselor and experienced play therapy interventionist, providing both structure and creativity in her work with clients.
Her clinical work centers on helping individuals break through barriers, navigate life transitions, and process trauma, while also promoting emotional wellness and resilience. Deona is deeply committed to reducing the stigma around mental health care and creating safe, affirming spaces where individuals feel seen, supported, and heard.
